I've already written a character sheet.
BBeast wrote:
Name: (Pretty straightforward)
Species: (Drakon, Grippli, Vasari, Phooka or Castera'an)
Age: (This will be dictated by species. For example, Castera'an have a lifespan of 200 Standard Years)
Appearance: (Only include variations from standard species appearance)
Personality: (This will be influenced by species, but remember that everybody is an individual)
Biography: (Include all major information about past and present life. Where one lives and who was in his/her life and what he/her did is a notable factor, that is also usually semi-dependant on species)
Occupation: (Pretty straightforward as well. What major job does your character have? Mercenary? Diplomat? Trader? Etc.)
Abilities: (For natural abilities, state to what extent you can perform them. For non-natural abilities, list them and give information. Include both physical and psychic abilities)
Tools: (The weapons, armour and tools your character generally take around with them)
Ships: (Whatever spaceships your character owns. Some may own one. Some may own whole fleets)
With the plot, my Castera'an need more involvement. I think that the Grippli rebellion is the most likely of the three. Maybe the Vasari could attack my Empire and the Castera'an call for help.

What I was thinking is that the Castera'an are not yet prt of the alliance, and the Drakons are trying like hell to get them to enter the alliance and ensure no Galactic war-type thing. So then the Castera'an could call for the Drakons to do some task for them and they end up dragging along the players to do it. Or something like that.

That could work. Although from the way the Castera'an like to ally anybody who isn't an enemy I find the first half impractical. But this task that the Castera'an drag everybody into is a good idea. Especially since they're owed a favour for finishing off the Vasari attacking Space Station Poladon (they'd have arrived somewhere about half way through the battle in the OP with a large fleet to defend their allies. Even if the Drakons or Grippli didn't consider calling them, the Castera'an emissaries/embassy on board the station would have called for help).

As for your name problem, I'd call it Space Station Poladon - The New Age. Not just third. New.

Oh. Who's doing the blocking? If its the Vasari, there's a problem for me there. But if its the Drakons, then they'll find a way around. Especially after the Vasari battle begins.

I'd like to not be left out too much.

Vasari. But you could have a politician there who's escorted by warriors and they can fight or something...

I'd have an embassy on the station. There'd be some guards there.

OK. So let me mentally go over the plot again. Before everybody starts there was an epic battle with the Vasari devastating Space Station Poladon and the planet below. As of yet the exact condition of the Space Station after the battle has not been determined.

Since the planet below was just made useless, Space Station Poladon just became economically infeasible. Therefore the Drakons decided it would be best if they handed it over to the Grippli as a motion of goodwill and to remove a new burden from their shoulders.

Then there are reports of a large-scale rebellion on a planet (one of the Grippli's, I presume). The players are sent to help. Regardless of how they try to fix it, after it's nearly all done the Vasari attack.

Presuming everybody didn't die, the players are then sent back to Poladon. There the Castera'an ask their allies for help on an important matter. The players are dragged along to help.

OK. So we've got it shaping out nicely. As a suggestion, perhaps the Castera'an, although they couldn't make it to the battle, try to make amends by attempting to heal Oorachini using their terraforming technology, or at least try to accelerate the recovery. Maybe the players, if they want to, could help out by collecting a few samples and setting up equipment.

And just a question, is there going to be anything to do with some sort of powerful artefact in the later plot. If so, the important task the Castera'an called for help with could be relevant to that artefact.

Well, that psychic crystal I always have lying around. It could've been stolen from the Drakons, and turned up in the Castera'an Black Market.

Powerful artifacts are too cliche. Im gonna stay clear of them.

Sure. Then they could go to alien planets, collect lifeforms, samples, data... then what?

It doesn't have to be too much. The terraforming ships generally carry around an entire ecosystem in their cargo hold. They just need to collect a few atmospheric, soil and water samples to test what kind of poison or whatever the Vasari had used. Then after an antidote is developed they just need to drop down and set up a few custom-built long-term terraforming devices.

@Legion. I can't image a crystal that could teleport at will could be stolen.

Indeed. Though I must admit I can't imagine a sentient crystal at all. Especially if it's just your common diamond-shaped crystal. If it's something like the Crystmal then that's more believable... Just the idea of an inanimate object speaking to you is... I'll just stop now...

Yea, but some people just know how to do things right...

Sci-Fi man. Besides, could you imagine a humanoid frog, actually named a frog, that exists in a galaxy totally seperate to ours?

If you can, you can probably imagine a sentient, psychic crystal.

Really, the concept is not that hard. There are some crystals in sci-fi with psychic power, now imagine a super-conducting crystal with a mind trapped inside it, that happens to be very powerful.

Terraforming I already said it before...Evil or Very Mad

And the concept of a sentient crystal may not be hard to you, but to sane humans its completely stupid. A mind trapped inside a crystal would mean it would not be contently touring the galaxy but rather trying to find it's way back into a proper living body. The mind of a living creature would go insane in an inanimate object. Not to meantion the whole idea of it is problematic. A mind needs a brain. An inanimate object has no brain.

Fine. Geez. And a planet that is sentient is possible?

Sorry for being annoyed, but you have way more insane ideas. A psychic planet?

I agree, a psychic planet is a bit ridiculous. I've read about a sentient planet (along with a sentient lake) in a sci-fi book, but it was still a bit preposterous. To make it simpler for you, just think of the psychic sentient crystal as a scaled-down version of your psychic sentient planet.

Ever heard of the Gaia Hypothesis?

http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/ASK/gaia.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis
http://erg.ucd.ie/arupa/references/gaia.html

My idea of a sentient planet isn't sentient in a sense that it is like an animal, as you idiots seem to assume. My idea of a sentient planet is the above on a more powerful scale.

Just because you don't understand something that dosen't make it insane, LegionofShadows.

Before this turns into a flamewar I shall stop here. Look at ourselves... arguing with eachother, complete strangers, about psychic crystals and planets over the internet. I'm sure this wasn't what the internet was made for...

Ah, OK. Maybe pretend the crystal acts like a computer, then?

So, what else do we need to discuss? More plot.

I think the internet was madfe for flame wars, but ti evolved into something a tiny bit more refined.

Sorry, but you were al;ready okay with psychic crystal. Was gonna remind you.

Well, just think of it as an ultimate evolution, but that being imprisoned in the crystal. Not the ebst answer, but really, none of thsi stuff really would happen. It is sci-fi. We rule the universe.

Hmm, after we go to the rebellion whatsoever, and repel vasari, maybe we can go to a planet which has the remains of an alien city, but has no artifacts in the usual sense. Or better yet, go to Oraacini, and go in the mines there.

It wouldn't be cliche with powerful artifacts, but it would just be ruins of an ancient civilisation, which took all their techno with them.

Oraacini got devastated by the Vasari, remember. Unless my terraforming technology worked faster than expected, it wouldn't be suitable to go exploring.

But a planet with an ancient civilisation that no longer exists... that could work. Possibly. Does Froggy have any ideas?

There is a small subterranean biome on Oraacini that seems to have the only living things to have survived the Vasari attack. Players beam down there in protective suits to have a look and try to see if they could find what lets these creatures survive and use that to fix the planet. During the mission they discover something ancient and terrible that lurks in the depths. Dunno what it could be or if we should even have it...

Sounds good. We can find it during collecting terraforming samples and develop from there. As these living things have survived, their traits could be exploited in the terraforming equipment.

What it could be... a monster? Not just any monster, a mythical ancient magical immortal monster or something along those lines.

An ancient terrible creature that feeds off the psychic energies of nearby sentient creatures. Our presence has slowly awakened it and now it's ready to do something...
