How about Balor for a Miniboss (Giant eye creature?) or something like a Mandragora or even a Minotaur?

Something made from a big eye or 3... sounds good. A minotaur sounds like a suitable boss as well. Not sure about a mandragora, though. From what I see it's a plant-person.

Minibosses:

  • Dragon (Encountered in the earthen layer. This isn't too big a dragon. More of an oversized lizard which breathes fire. There may be some handy loot lying around)
  • Minotaur (Encountered in the earthen layer. Could be guarding a passageway. Quite strong and can have a big mace as its weapon, unless you have any other suggestions)
  • Mechanical Spellcaster (Encountered in the mechanical level. Is a technomancical creation (ie. robot) that has the ability to cast spells. A Spell-o-Matic, its weapon, may be retrieved from it)
  • Balrog (Encountered in the late undead level. Unlike most other fights, the party should primarily chose to run from it down the passageway, where they must dodge the fireballs thrown at them by their pursuer. It is possible that they will have to cross over an unstable bridge and then take the bridge out before the Balrog crosses it)
  • Arch Watcher (Encountered in the demonic layer. Will be a kind of general over a race of big planty otherworldy eyes that are very good at magic. It would be in place on a tall tower. Perhaps if you made the tower collapse...)
  • Torrens Igneus (a fire demon encountered before the actual boss fight against the Great Wyrm, guarding the way in. Absorbs heat as his own energy and can manipulate it at will. Always irradiating large amounts of heat around himself, making physical contact nearly impossible unless drained of energy. As the Water Shard would have been retrieved before, this could be used to the group's advantage)

Sauron lookalike?

Perhaps not a Mandragora, but perhaps something like a Malboro (My favorite Final Fantasy enemy ever!) or even a Plant Dragon with sleep spores and Venom attacks.

Also, what about a Golem, I know we have steampunk enemies but a Golem would be epic, or a Kappa Lord or some sort of Kelpie (We don't have enough water enemies)

A golem sounds like a good idea. I'll throw it in. And you are right, we don't have many water enemies at all. Maybe it's because I don't associate caves and dungeons with vast tracts of water, even though there often are in such places. A giant fish would work well.

For Water enemies, how about a cetus or somesort of Giant Jellyfish beast?

On the subject of the Minotaur, what if it were guarding the entrance to the mechanical layer, using some remains of a robot as a weapon, or even having the Minotaur using some sort of component from the door to fight, that way some of the engineers will have to figure out a way of repairing the door after the Minotaur is gone.

Also in the demonic layer we could fight some sort of engorged Demon prince who resides on a platform above the group, to take him out we must trick some of his obese, explosive minions into destroying the pillars, perhaps a scout could help with this?

  • Giant Fish: Two Steps From Hell - Kronos
  • Mechanical Spellcaster: RuneScape Soundtrack - I'm Counting on You
  • Steel Golem: Har'Lakk the Riftsplitter - RuneScape Boss Theme
  • Balrog: Epic Score - OMG Run
  • Arch Watcher: Shadow Forger Ihlakhizen - RuneScape Boss Theme

For most of these I've been picking songs which didn't make the cut for the actual boss themes. As I'm not going through any intensive selection process this time, I may change the planned themes on a whim. Just saying.

Good idea with the Minotaur. How about it throws mechanical devices such as bombs and small robots at us and it's weapon could be a war-hammer (since a smash-o-matic is kinda pushing it).

And a miniboss related to eating... I think instead of a demon we could use some sort of other monstrosity. A very fat one. And we can use its love of food to our advantage, by perhaps rigging the food with something dangerous (either spikes or explosives should do the trick. I wouldn't rely too much on poisons).

Nice Idea, perhaps when it's killed, maybe in an offscreen( or offroleplay or whatever) cutscene some of Mhar's minions pull the Minotaur's corpse below ground. If this is done then as a later miniboss we could have a Ressurected half mechanical Minotaur miniboss who has Beef (Pun intended) with the Party

Okay, I'm not sure what enemy this could be, perhaps a Corpse Worm or maybe some Corpse eating Zombie that not only eats it's dead allies, but it adds them to itself becoming increasingl warped and monstrous with each meal?

Also, can the Giant fish be renamed "Cetus" it just makes more sense, given that "Cetus" was a preexistant Mythological Giant fish creature?

Nice, and thanks for renaming the Cetus,

It seems as if the IC is dying, it's just I have nothing to post untill we start moving out of the Goblin camp, which I hoped Ronald was going to do once the Illithid's soul was trapped inside the Gem.
Also, are we to assume more of the Bossess, other than those who are mechanical or the like will have once been humans, like the Illithid?

Also in the Mechanical layer, undead layer and Demonic layer what will serve as Flora?

There is just one Illithid. He was a unique case. He and Zandre were the only survivors of the battle over the artefact their group had. Zandre, having more power, punished his ex-friend by transforming him away from his human state into one more suited for his purposes.

The flora in the other layers will be the same. Do note that there won't be a distinct division between layers. They merge together a bit.

I'll get the IC moving, then.
