Sounds preddy good.

How about after we go back there, we go to a planet that is owned by all three members of the alliance, to quell a rebellion that is starting. Just as we extinguish their free thought, Vasari arrive.

I think that's too similar to teh oter mission. Maybe we go to an 'Embassy Planet', which is a planet that basically has an embassy from each different faction capable of building an embassy there. Then there's a central building in which diplomatic issues are dealt with between the different fations, if you know what I mean? So it's basically a diplomacy planet.... and there's something the players should sort out... maybe the guys who previously revolted have to be convinced of rejoining the alliance or something...

Yea.

I have an idea for a section of the thing. There is a parade in the Drakon embassy commemorating the dead of Antus and all others, and we end up in the middle of it. One guy, who happens to be recruited for the Vasari, who thinkts that the leaders of Drakondkind got them into war, attempts to turn a mob against us. As there is a Grippli in the midst, of whom his species(even if he did) had not helped the Drakons in their time of need. Build it from their, amybe.

Not recruited by the Vasari but it's a good idea. Maybe an assassin who hates the Grippli becaise of the above reason? There could be an important Grippli leader there and the players have to try to find and stop the assassin before he manages to kill the Grippi.

Yeah! Races against time and deadly assassins! Prime plot material!

So what have we got so far...

We start with the aftermath of the Vasari attack.

We work on setting up some terraforming on the recently-devastated Oraacini.

We find an ancient monster feeding off sentient life-force while terraforming.

There is a rebellion on an Alliance-owned (or whatever we call our group of allied empires) planet. We are sent to stop it and the Vasari attack.

We go to a neutral planet (designed for embassies that weren't on Space Station Poladon). An assassin is there to kill a high-ranking Grippli and we must stop him/her/it before it is too late. Throw in a riot for added chaos.

The above is not necessarily in order.

Who's planet do we have the rebellion on? Is it the Drakon's? That seems to even out the participation a bit, as we have the Grippli starring in the aftermath and the assassin and the Castera'an running the terraforming.

As with the rebellion, perhaps the Vasari stirred it up. They used such underhanded techniques so they could attack the planet with minimal resistance.

Yea. I wanted it to be a Drakon planet.

Actually, I was thinking of having riot on Drakon planet. bBecause, y'know, they are still grieving, and we somehow insult a guy that doesn't know he is working for Vasari secretly, but thinks that if Kifley, Chelitay, Hunter and Methrey are dead, since they were the antagonists, the Vasari will go to peace. But he doesn't know that it is a Vasari who gave him information on our whereabouts, so he can kill Methrey. Oh, and some other guys.

Yeah, the Vasari will be stirring up trouble to attempt to make the Drakons cave from the inside. Once they notice that their plan is failing they'll make a military strike while the planet is still politically unstable so their efforts are not entirely wasted.

The Vasari wouldn't go into so much trouble. They are not out to destroy the alliance, they only raid to obtain prisoners. They have no need to go through any trouble attempting to infiltrate any of our societies when they have the power to wipe our alliances from existance.

Perhaps a creature could think this and be trying to make peace with the Vasari, as Shadows meantioned above.

Yes!

But, considering, The Vasari will still lose a lot of ships in the process. Wouldn't you waste a few weeks to disorganise the Drakons, so you can raid at will, without them having an effective leadership?

Not really. Not if I had a massive Galactic Empire to run and no time to spare messing with natives...

Who said they had no time to mess with the natives? If they haven't devastated all other life in the Galaxy already, there must be a reason. They claim to have the power, but clearly don't either use it or have it or they aren't able to use it.

There are two reasons for them to mess up the Drakon's politics like that. One is because they don't actually have the ability to call upon enough ships to take the planet/empire by force alone, either because they don't have them or because there is some moral, economical or political issue on making such a massive strike fleet. The other reason is because the riot is a trap, bait for a bunch of high-ranking Alliance political powers to go and fix. Then, when everybody is in place, they strike and take out two bird with one stone, or so they say, thus improving efficiency. Even a giant empire needs to get the fuel to power its fleet if its going for an attack.

Who do you think?

Why destroy all life in the galaxy when you can simply enslave them all and make them do the hard work throughout your Empire as slaves? They are not the inexplicably evil overlords you think they are, they're simply trying to run an Empire. And they have are ruthless. But not stupid.

Have it your way then. I'm just saying it dosen't fit their character to do such a thing but if you want to do it go ahead.

They're simply trying to run an Empire. If they simply were just trying to run an empire, an easy, but beneficial course of action would be to make the Drakons weak from the inside, destablized from rebellion, then spend less ships and soldiers to take out a nearly purely military colony.

Wait. You said yes? Yay!

What after that? Hmm? Maybe we can start the roleplay, then plan that a little deeper in. When we have a more solid idea.

But what comes first? We must decide the exact timing of events. So far we have the rebellion (include Vasari attack), terraformation (include ancient monster) and assassin (include riot and Grippli politicians). They need ordering.

We can start it after the OP's done if you guys want. Then we can plan more missions as the RP goes on. We'd also have to plan an epic plot arc...

We need a bad guy. Not a Vasari, though... I'm thinking of having the Vasari of a bit of a wildcard to wreck havok whenever I feel like it...

What about an interstellar cult who worship the Vasari as gods? Their leader could be the main bad guy and they could then be the ones behind the assassination attempt and whatnot. At the end we could reveal them as being behind everything.

Wadda you think?

Or, if you don't think they should worship Vasari, perhaps they could still be a cult of some sort, but merely see the Vasari as a tool to enact their evil plans?

Any ideas?

So either they are greater or lesser than the Vasari. I like the first idea, where they worship the Vasari. It means they'll want to exterminate our Empires to protect the Vasari.

So I need to review the major plot. Oorachini (or however it's spelt) is recovering from a major attack by the Vasari. The Castera'an attempt to restore the planet. We go to a diplomatically neutral planet where an ambassador's convention is being hosted or something. There is an assassination attempt and we have to stop it while the mysterious people behind the plot seed chaos throughout the city, causing a riot and making our job difficult.

Then what? Perhaps the same mysterious faction could sabotage the terraforming machines. Possibly when we are exploring on the surface. Possibly. But we need to get this overall plot planned now. If we don't this will go down like all the others.

Okay. I like that. Don't forget the huge evil underground moster of ancient darkness.

Also it'll be the Grippli sending the group around on mission, seeing as they own the Space Station... one problem though... why would the group follow orders from them? Perhaps we should have something similar to Bbeat's motivation thing in his character sheet...

So...

1. Group is dragged into diplomatic attempts, made to go to neutral planet where they find out that there's an assassin around plotting to kill a diplomat. This would be disaterous for the Drakons, who are hosting the meeting. They stop/try to stop assassin, but it is made more difficult by the riots around them, Drakons angry that the Grippli didn't help them, Grippli angry at the Drakons for being so angry at them...

2. Group sent to Grippli planet to deal with rebellion/uprising of natives. Natives are fed up with Grippli religion and culture dominating them. Group is given the objective of killing some of the rebellion leaders, by whatever means nessicary. Once uprising is dealt with, a small Vasari raiding fleet arrives.

3. Group try to survive, and whether they dealt with the natives honourably or not will determine whether the natives help them. Group defends themselves while the Grippli sends a rescue ship. Group encounters the leader of the fleet, for whatever reason he had landed. They see that the only way they could survive is to kill him, seeing as the Grippli ship is taking so long.

4. Group kills leader. The rest of the Vasari panic and retreat. News of the defeat, unknown to the group, enrages the Cult, especially since it was done only by a small group.

5. Grippli rescue ship arrives. Memebers of group are commemmorated as heroes in a ceremony aboard the Space Station. After the ceremony, they are informed that the Castera'an are willing to help terraform Orracini back to health. They only need small samples of the poisons used by the Vasari. The group is sent to the planet to collect these samples.

6. On the planet's surface, they conduct a scan, showing what they will need to collect, and from where. The results show that the poison has seeped through the ground, and collected in underground caverns, most abandoned mining operations, though some are natural. The Castera'an say that if they don't have a sample of the more dense, underground poison then they will not be able to counteract it, so teh group goes underground.

7. While underground, they discover an entire ecosystem has survived deep down. The attempt to tell the Castera'an about this, but their communications are interfered with underground [the crystals...] so they must go back above-ground.

8. Aboveground they speak with the Castera'an, who are surprised that anything could have survived the poison, especially in such dense quantities underground... something else happens... any ideas?

9. Group either goes back underground and encounters the monster, or it bursts out of the ground while they're speaking with the Grippli about what the Castera'an said.

10. Group fights monster. They discover that it's skin is infused with crystals - the same ones they say back in the mines. These mines were abandoned before their time, they don't know it's history...

11. After the monster is slain or retreats, the groupd asks the Grippli what that thing was. The Grippli tell them of when the mines were still operational, their discoveries about the crystals. The crystals greatly enhance the mental powers of psychic creatures, but non-psychics, when around the crystals for too long. They go mad. That is all they found, they found it from the Drakon miners who mostly weren't psychic - they went mad or were on the brink of it. They had to abandon the mines. Then, they speculate, the creature they just encountered must have been down there for so long, it somehow fused with the crystals themselves - it's insane mind physically manifesting itself, warping it's natural body. Perhaps the crystals allowed the underground creatures to survive...

12. Group goes back underground, reluctantly, and collects samples of the poison. They head back to the station as the Castera'an set up their terraforming machines on the surface of the planet. In a ship, flying back to the Station, the group look back and admire how massive the machinery is - how much technological skill it would have taken to create such a powerful machine as to change an entire planet... then it blows up.

13. The ship becomes turbulent as the force of the explosion hits it. They make it back to the Station, however, in one piece.

14. Some Castera'an officials and scientists are spoeaking with Grippli leaders of the Station - presumably about the explosion - when the group arrives. Both alien parties then turn to he group. They say that the group was the last one on the planet, besides those who set up the machinery. Either they were all traitors, or there was one among them. They are thrown in prison until the traitor gives himself up.

15. Unfortunately there is not traitor, it was the cult who destroyed the machine, and the group was wrongly accused. But no one else knows that. somehow the group escapes? [Ideas, brainstorming please...]

How they escape...

The guard trusts them/ is manipulated into letting them out.

Someone else who trusts them rescues them... who is he? what is he? can he be trusted?

A Cultist visits them in prison, slaying their guards and disabling the lasers/whatever is holding them in. He is there to try to kill them, dispose of them once and for all. The group fend him off and then have a clear path to escape.

16. They are now outlaws, and when the Grippli discover they had escaped, the Grippli begin actively hunting for those who they thought heroes who had betrayed their trust. All of Grippli-kind now hates the group. Before the Grippli alert the Drakons or Castera'an of the outlaws, they seek shelter, either with the Castera'an or Drakons.

... more ideas anyone? I know...

17. If the group are with the Castera'an, the Grippli eventually discover they are holding the traitors and ask them to hand them over. The Castera'an refuse. They know good characters when they see them. They try telling the Grippli they have accused the wrong people - in their rage and feeling of betrayal, the Grippli ignore them. This continues to the point of a devistating intergalactic war between the two species, but is prevented by something...

Drakon intervention perhaps? I don't know... you're turn to brainstorm!
